Tianjin Promising Independently Develops 100% Localized Slurry Process Polyethylene Horizontal Scroll Discharge Decanter Centrifuge for Sinopec, and Makes Delivery Successfully
The Slurry Process Polyethylene New Process Development Pilot Project" is one of Sinopec’s 2023 "Ten Dragons" technology breakthrough projects, and "Ten Dragons" is a term synonymous with tackling key and challenging technological breakthroughs within Sinopec. Currently, the production of polyethylene via separation in China’s petrochemical industry relies entirely on imported centrifuges, with Austria’s Andritz having the largest market share. Due to the high cost of imported complete machines and spare parts, long supply cycles, and delayed after-sales service, this project of Sinopec will, for the first time, fully adopt domestically produced horizontal scroll discharge decanter centrifuges.
After comprehensive and meticulous market research on domestic centrifuges, Sinopec learned that Tianjin Promising Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd., as a domestic private enterprise, began developing and manufacturing centrifuges and differentials in 2004. Over the past two decades, Tianjin Promising has dedicated itself to the R&D and manufacturing of centrifuges and differentials. Tianjin Promising has fully localized and put into use various imported centrifuges and differentials. Centrifuges manufactured by Tianjin Promising for the separation of special materials such as dimethyl terephthalate, melamine, polyphenylene sulfide, and sodium hydrogen sulfate can be delivered as complete machines, competing with imported centrifuges and achieving comparable performance.
More importantly, over the years, Tianjin Promising has completed the absorption and transformation of Andritz centrifuge technology. The first domestically produced differential matching Andritz A11 centrifuge, manufactured by Tianjin Promising, was put into operation in 2015. Three sets of domestically produced differentials were provided to an enterprise in Sichuan, all of which have been operating well for eight years. The rotor parts of an Andritz A11 centrifuge repaired for another Sichuan enterprise were put into operation in 2017, with all spare parts localized. In the same year, three A11 centrifuges at an enterprise in Fushun experienced abnormal vibrations. After being repaired and localized by Tianjin Promising, they were put back into operation, performing at the level of the original machines. In recent years, Tianjin Promising has repaired and refurbished the rotor parts of four Andritz A10 centrifuges for an enterprise in Tianjin. The localization of rotor parts and complete machines for Andritz A7 centrifuges was completed by Promising in 2018, and these have been provided to two enterprises in Xinjiang. All are currently operating well , with quality fully recognized by our customers.
Tianjin Promising Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has successful cases and practical experience with Andritz equipment, whether for complete centrifuges, rotor parts, differentials, spare parts, or maintenance and refurbishments. Ultimately, Tianjin Promising stood out among many domestic centrifuge manufacturers and became the supplier of horizontal scroll discharge decanter centrifuges for Sinopec’s national-level key project: the Slurry Process Polyethylene New Process Development Pilot Project. After rigorous and thorough technical exchanges, the two parties signed a technical agreement in July 2023.
Technical Important Points and Difficult Points:
1.Dual-Frequency Dual-Speed Design: This design allows the main drive speed and the differential speed of the centrifuge to be adjustable within a certain range, enabling different separation factors and discharge speeds to achieve optimal separation performance.
2.Fully Sealed Design: Based on material characteristics, double-dry gas seals are used at the feed pipe and shaft seals at both ends of the casing. The dry gas seal nitrogen control system isolates the process materials and media inside the casing from the external environment. Additionally, mechanical seals are applied at both ends of the spiral, ensuring zero emissions.
3.Lubrication System: The lubrication of the centrifuge’s main bearings employs an advanced circulating lubrication and cooling system. The lubrication system is equipped with dual motors, dual oil pumps, dual cartridge filters, and dual coolers. If unexpected issues happen during operation, the system can immediately switch to the backup oil circuit, effectively providing two lubrication systems sharing one oil tank, ensuring reliable and stable operation.
4.Materials: To ensure the strength and rigidity of the bowl and scroll, the drum, scroll hub, and large-end support and small-end support are made of duplex stainless steel via centrifugal casting. Duplex stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. Centrifugal casting outperforms static casting by effectively reducing casting defects such as porosity and slag inclusion, ensuring high density. This process guarantees the mechanical performance of the equipment’s critical components.
5.Surface Smoothness: Ultra-high surface smoothness requirements are met using mirror-finished plates on one side and Taigang steel plates polished to Ra0.8 on the other for the casing, flanges, partitions, and ribs. The surface smoothness of the drum and the inner surface of the casing reaches Ra0.4.
6.Common Base Platform: The main unit of centrifuge, motor, and oil lubrication cooling system are integrated onto a common base, facilitating overall hoisting and transportation.
The independent development of the localized horizontal scroll discharge decanter centrifuge for slurry process polyethylene by Tianjin Promising Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. holds significant practical value and strategic importance. Fully localized and manufactured domestic models can save approximately RMB 5,000,000 in costs while achieving the same standards as imported equipment. Meanwhile, it helps break China’s reliance on imported large horizontal scroll discharge decanter centrifuges in the petrochemical industry, thereby safeguarding the nation’s long-term energy security.
The Slurry Process Polyethylene New Process Development Pilot Project is a national-level key project. The participation of Tianjin Promising demonstrates that its technical capabilities are at the forefront of the domestic industry. At the same time, Tianjin Promising views this collaboration as a comprehensive report and test of its capabilities over its more than 20 years of operation. Tianjin Promising now possesses the technical ability to undertake large, critical projects with high standards.
